Shelterland

'Terra de Abrigo' is a project that welcomes Afghan refugees, activists for peace and human rights, offering a multidimensional welcoming model, with a view to developing and consolidating personal and social skills for autonomy, while ensuring possibilities for professional integration and belonging to the territory.

The Terra de Abrigo project is the result of a strategic protocol between Associação Terra Sintrópica, the High Commission for Migrations (ACM), Mértola City Council, Mértola Parish Council and the international organization Permaculture for Refugees, with international support from FOR, Edmund Rice Center, World Beyond War, Quakers Australia, and many other private and institutional donors.

The multidimensional welcoming model proposed integrates the 'Land Grant - Regenerate Mértola' training program, as well as eco-social, cultural, legal, financial, personal and professional accompaniment.
